Emma_CarterJoin St. Anthony’s own, Emma Carter and her family as she leads the fight against lung disease in the American Lung Association’s 2010 Fight for Air 5K!

Emma is a 10 year old little girl with severe asthma. She was diagnosed with asthma at the age of 3, and has been a patient of ours since. Emma has a form of asthma known as allergic asthma, which can be triggered by her allergies or playing outside with her friends. According to Monica (Emma Mother) “it was difficult for her to explain how she was feeling.  We had to be aware of her asthma signs and treat her accordingly. As Emma got older she became aware of the signs and realized when she needed a treatment. Emma began taking so many medications at an early age it has now become a daily routine for her.”

Fortunately, her asthma has not held back from the activities she loves! It was her Soccer coach, James Martinez (Regional Vice President for the ALA) who informed Emma and her family about the American Lung Association and their mission.

Please join us and Emma's Crew on February 13, 2010 at Sea World of San Antonio for the 2010 FIGHT FOR AIR 5k Run/Walk and Lung Health Expo.

With lung disease being the #3 cause of death in America, your participation is imperative in helping the American Lung Association in their continuous efforts to support Asthma research, education and advocacy.  All proceed raised from the event will stay right here in our community, and benefit numerous programs for Asthma, COPD, Lung Cancer, Emphysema and Chronic Bronchitis.
