

Dr. Kniker joined Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Associates of South Texas in September, 1998 after a distinguished career in academic medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. While there, as Professor of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, he directed the Division of Allergy and Immunology, which carried out teaching of medical students and physicians nationally, care of patients and considerable research.
Dr. Kniker obtained his pre-medical Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he was president of the student body and Valedictorian of his graduating class.
Following internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and two years of general medical duty in the US Air Force, he completed a residency in pediatrics at UTMB and joined the pediatric faculty at the University of Arkansas Medical Center at Little Rock. Between 1958-1962 and 1965-1969, while there, he advanced from Chief Resident in pediatrics to Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Pathology. In 1962-1965, he was a fellow in immuno/pathology at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation at La Jolla, California, learning extensive laboratory research skills and beginning a productive laboratory and clinical research career culminating in over 159 publications.
Dr. Kniker has a great interest in the mechanisms of allergic and immunologic disease, enjoys a world-wide reputation particularly in respiratory, gastrointestinal, skin and central nervous system disorders caused by foodstuffs. He also has become an authority on respiratory infections and the proper use of antibiotics and immunizations. For all his patients, children or adults, he is dedicated to comprehensive healing involving appropriate preventive, medical, dietary, fitness and psychological approaches.
In his free time, Dr. Kniker enjoys visiting his children, grandchildren and friends and working out at the gym. Having a son with autism, he works intensively with the Autism Treatment Centers, Inc. to improve the care of affected persons. He is also writing a series of books in the area of self-improvement and spirituality.
